Ospreys edge past UDel 5-4
Dela-who? Dela-what? Delaware, and the Blue Hens fans were chanting loudly after their team stormed back from an early 3-0 deficit to take a 4-3 lead over Richard Stockton’s Ospreys heading into the final period at a Friday evening game on the University of Delaware campus.
A second period mid-ice collision caused an arm injury to freshman standout Brian D’erario and it seemed to have the Stockton team lose focus, as 3 second period goals by the home team put the Ospreys in a hole entering the final stanza. But sophomore Tyler Martin scored twice in the 3rd and goalie Eddie Rafferty held off all Delaware shots the rest of the way to secure the win for the visitors.
Freshman defenseman Richie Myers scored the game’s first goal and Al Morelli scored the other 2 goals for the NJ team. The teams will face each other again Sunday night at the Atlantic City SkateZone.
Season Opener is a big W
It’s only one game, but the puck movement and zone coverage throughout makes a Stockton fan optimistic for a successful season ahead.
