The Stockton College Ice Hockey team returned to NJ from Warwick PA’s Empire Classic with 3 victories against non-league opposition. The Classic, now in its firth year pits teams from the DVCHC, Empire, CHE and BRHC leagues, dividing each league’s top 4 teams into separate pool play, awarding points for wins (and lesser points for each period and blowout wins). It appears the DHCHC was the big winner again with 2 of its 4 teams returning undefeated and another 2-1 record.
Stockton opened Friday with a 4-2 win over Penn State as Tyler Martin and Greg Buckley each scored a pair of goals. On Saturday, an identical 4-2 win was posted against Southern Connecticut with Al Morelli tallying 3 goals and defenseman Travis Janiec scoring his first career goal. Sunday saw another d-man getting his first career score, as Matt Minski roofed a goal on a great pass by Martin. The line of Jimmy Massaro, Morelli and Martin was flying, with some great passing sequences leading to a few of the goals in a 5-2 early morning victory over UNC Wilmington.
Following a short break for the Thanksgiving holiday, the Ospreys will return to action on Sunday, December 7th against league rival, Alvernia University.
